DIY Carpentry - Advanced

This advanced-level course is designed for learners who want to master professional carpentry techniques and tackle major home improvement projects. Delivered over three full days (Saturday, Sunday, and the following Saturday) or six weekday evenings, you’ll learn how to construct door linings, hang doors, build stud walls, and carry out wall alterations using advanced power tools.

Learners who have completed our Intermediate Carpentry course or have strong DIY experience.
Those looking to take on complex home improvements or progress towards trade-level skills.

Location: Our workshop in Basingstoke.
Format: Face-to-face, instructor-led practical training.
Duration: Three full days (Saturday, Sunday, and Saturday) or six weekday evenings.
Group Size: Small groups for personalised attention.
What to Bring: Safety boots (mandatory). All other tools and materials are provided.

Safety & Advanced Power Tools
- Circular saw, router, nail gun, and other advanced tools.
Making a Door Lining
- Measuring, cutting, and assembling a door frame.
Fitting a Door
- Hanging, aligning, and finishing doors professionally.
Studwork Construction
- Building internal stud walls.
Wall Alterations
- Techniques for modifying existing walls safely.
Professional Finishing
- Sealing, sanding, and preparing for paint or stain.

A place on the practical training session.
All tools and materials provided during the course.
Certificate of attendance.

I completed the EWPA Carpentry Level 2. It was carried out in one day plus taking a few photos and filling in some forms. The forms were pretty straightforward and Craig also offered some advice filling them in. The practical test was carried out with just myself and one other carpenter. We weren't in a rush to finish the little stud wall and chatted our way through the day. David the assessor was down to earth and helpful. I've received my certificate from Multi Trades 3 days after completion. So I will now call CSCS and get my blue card.

I recently had to do a EWPA to gain a level 2 NVQ in bricklaying due to the changes in the cscs card system. I would highly recommend to anyone in the same situation to do the course with mttraining, the course is well organised and the instructor Ryan was great guy and thanks to Craig who was very helpful with the organising of the whole thing.
