An apprenticeship is an agreement between you and an employer to learn a trade while working alongside experienced professionals. It allows you to develop hands-on skills and gain valuable industry experience, typically lasting 18 months to 4 years, depending on your chosen apprenticeship.

During your apprenticeship, you will learn practical trade skills alongside the theoretical knowledge required to complete essential tasks in your profession.

Anyone at any age providing they are learning new Skills, Knowledge and behaviours. You can train new staff of existing staff on an apprenticeship.

To start an intermediate apprenticeship, you need at least a Grade E (or equivalent) in English and maths.

For an advanced apprenticeship, you must have a minimum Grade C (or equivalent) in these subjects.

You must be 16 years old to start an apprenticeship, but there is no upper age limit. However, you must be learning new Skills, Knowledge, and Behaviours as part of the apprenticeship framework.

Completing an apprenticeship will prepare you for employment within your industry. You will:

✔ Hold the necessary qualifications to apply for a Blue Skilled Worker CSCS card, allowing you to work on construction sites.
✔ Have the option to progress onto a higher qualification, should you wish to continue developing your career.

The duration varies based on the level of training:

📌 Intermediate (Level 2): 12–36 months
📌 Advanced (Level 3): Minimum of 12 months
📌 Higher (Level 4/5): 2–4 years

A construction apprenticeship is a great way to earn while you learn, gaining practical experience alongside a salary. Wages vary depending on the employer, apprenticeship level, and location.
