1. Initial Welcome Email
   Once you express interest, you'll receive a detailed email outlining everything you need to begin the apprenticeship process, including key documents, next steps, and how to access support.
2. Apprenticeship Agreement & Employment Contract
   The employer and apprentice sign an apprenticeship agreement and employment contract. Download templates below and return them to [email protected].
3. Electronic Forms & Initial Assessment
   Once we receive the signed documents, we provide additional forms for electronic completion. Apprentices also complete an initial online assessment before beginning the programme.
4. Streamlined, Paperless Process via Bud Systems
   All steps are managed through our online e-portfolio – Bud Systems, ensuring a smooth, efficient, and fully digital experience with dedicated support available at every stage.
5. Funding & Registration via the Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS)
   Employers must register their apprentices through the Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS) to access government funding. We simplify this process by managing DAS registrations on your behalf, ensuring funding applications are completed quickly and correctly.

The NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry is designed for experienced operatives who have worked in the trade, whether in the UK or abroad. This qualification is delivered completely online, providing a convenient and efficient way to achieve your certification.
Entry Requirements:

✅ You must have at least 3 years of experience working in carpentry, either on a building site or in domestic properties.
✅ You must be able to speak and write in English to complete the required assessments.
✅ You must have access to the internet via a mobile phone or PC, as all evidence must be uploaded as video recordings.
❌ Photos are not accepted as evidence—videos are required to demonstrate competency.

Your online assessor will review the work you upload via the Quals portal, assessing your competence through:

✔ Videos showcasing your practical skills
✔ Witness statements from employers or colleagues
✔ Professional discussions demonstrating your understanding
✔ Documents that provide evidence of your experience

In addition, you will need to complete written NVQ Level 2 Carpentry questions, which are completed within Quals Direct our e-portfolio system.

To complete the qualification, you must complete 6 units, including 3 mandatory units and 3 optional units.
Mandatory Units:

✅ Moving, Handling, and Storing Resources in the Workplace (Manual Handling)
✅ Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace (Working Relationships)
✅ Conforming to General Health, Safety, and Welfare in the Workplace (Health and Safety)

Optional Units (Choose 3):

✔ Setting Up and Using Transportable Cutting and Shaping Machines (Powertools like skill saws, chop saws, planes, drills, routers, etc.)
✔ Maintaining Non-Structural Carpentry Work (Replacing, splicing, and repairing timber products)
✔ Installing Second Fixing Components (Skirting, architraves, kitchens, doors)
✔ Installing First Fixing Components (Stairs, door and window frames, linings, studwork, flooring)
✔ Installing Fire-Resistant Timber Door Assemblies and Door Sets (Fire doors and associated components)
✔ Erecting Structural Carcassing Components (Basic roofing and joists)

✔ Induction & Welcome Pack: This is completed online once payment has been made 
✔ Access to Quals Direct e-Portfolio: You will complete your questions and upload on-site work for assessment.

Your Assessor Will:

✔ Contact you within 3 working days after receiving your induction checklist.
✔ Review your submitted evidence, including videos, witness statements, professional discussions, and documents.

Once you complete the course, you can apply for your Blue CSCS card via the CSCS website or through our card booking service.

Important: A valid Health & Safety Environment Test (taken within the last 2 years) is required for CSCS card eligibility.

Once successfully completed, your NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Site Carpentry will be awarded by NOCN within seven working days. Your certificate will be emailed to you and can be used immediately to apply for your Blue CSCS card, helping you progress in your career.
